FAREHAM MAN DAVID SMITH CAUGHT WITH NEARLY 200,000 INDECENT IMAGES IN HAMPSHIRE
In March 2019, David Peter Smith, a 51-year-old resident of Fareham, was found in possession of nearly 200,000 indecent images of children.Smith admitted that he had been downloading these illicit images over a period of more than ten years, beginning in 2007.
The court learned that his collection included more than 180,000 category C still images, approximately 7,800 category B still images, and over 6,300 images of the most serious category A.
Additionally, Smith possessed over 2,000 moving images that ranged from category C to A, as well as more than 3,000 prohibited images, which typically refer to drawn or computer-generated depictions.
Portsmouth Magistrates Court was told that Smith also had 300 still images, all from categories C to A, which he intended to distribute.
Smith, of Carberry Drive, Fareham, pleaded guilty to all seven charges against him.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled to take place at Portsmouth Crown Court on April 5.
