DAVID SEAGRAVE AND SHOCKING SEXUAL OFFENSES IN SOUTHAMPTON
A senior citizen has been formally convicted of multiple serious sexual offenses involving a minor within the city of Southampton.David Seagrave, aged 83, was judged by a jury to be guilty of six distinct charges related to his misconduct.
The charges encompassed allegations of engaging in sexual activities in front of a child on two separate occasions, attempting to induce a child under the age of 13 to partake in sexual acts, and the sexual assault of a young person.
In addition to these, Seagrave was convicted of one count of exposure, which pertains to intentionally exposing himself in a public setting.
The incident was prosecuted at Southampton Crown Court, and the case proceedings concluded with a verdict that found Seagrave guilty of the majority of the charges brought against him.
The court has since adjourned the hearing until May 31, when a sentencing date will be set.
Despite the convictions, Seagrave was found not guilty of one specific allegation of sexual assault.
He also received a verdict of not guilty on the charge of exposing himself in a pub, claims which he strongly denied throughout the trial.
During the closing stages of the trial, prosecutor Simon Walters challenged the credibility of the witnesses for the prosecution, expressing skepticism about one of the key claims involving the alleged exposure.
Walters stated that the circumstances described in that particular incident “just doesn’t make sense.” Throughout the proceedings, David Seagrave maintained his innocence, denying all charges leveled against him.
His conviction marks a significant and troubling case involving serious allegations of sexual misconduct within Southampton.
