DAVID NICHOLLS STRIKES AGAIN IN CARDIFF: REPEATED VIOLENCE AND BREACHES OF RESTRAINING ORDERS

A serious assault case has brought to light the troubling pattern of violence and legal breaches involving David Nicholls, a 29-year-old man from Cardiff. The incident occurred on December 23 of the previous year, when Nicholls, who was reportedly intoxicated at the time, approached his former partner while she was walking home through the streets of Cardiff. Despite her attempts to warn him and her clear indication that she would call the police, Nicholls's behavior escalated into violence.

According to court reports, Nicholls, who had previously violated a restraining order on four separate occasions, began shouting at her in a loud and incoherent manner. Witnesses described his speech as mumbling and aggressive. As she turned around after hearing someone shouting behind her, she recognized Nicholls. She warned him to stay away and threatened to contact law enforcement, but he ignored her warnings. Instead, he threw what she believes was a can directly at her face, striking her with force. The impact caused a bleeding injury, a black eye, and significant facial trauma that necessitated immediate medical attention.

The victim was rushed to the hospital, where she spent approximately 12 hours receiving treatment. Medical staff confirmed she required between four and six stitches to her cheek to close the wound. The assault left her visibly injured and distressed. Following the attack, Nicholls fled the scene, disappearing before authorities could apprehend him.

It is important to note that David Nicholls had a history of violent behavior towards this same victim. In June 2020, he was subjected to a restraining order after being convicted of battery against her. The previous year, in May, he had also thrown a shoe at her, further demonstrating a pattern of aggressive and abusive conduct. Despite these prior legal restrictions, Nicholls continued to breach the orders, culminating in the recent assault.

During the court hearing, Nicholls pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm and breaching the restraining order. His legal representative explained that he was living on the streets and consuming large quantities of alcohol, factors that contributed to his erratic and violent behavior.
