DAVID LONG FROM LOUGHBOROUGH JAILED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING CHILDREN IN NOTTINGHAM
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, David Long, a 75-year-old man from Loughborough, has been sentenced to prison for a series of heinous acts involving young children in Nottingham. The court heard that Long engaged in a pattern of predatory behavior, targeting children in Nottingham city centre and secretly spraying them with a homemade mixture containing his own bodily fluids. This disturbing act was carried out on nearly 200 children, some of whom were under the age of 13, highlighting the severity and scale of his offending.Long's actions extended beyond the spraying; he also took photographs of his victims both before and after the incidents, capturing their reactions and the aftermath of his abuse. The Nottingham Crown Court was informed that police investigations uncovered a trove of incriminating evidence in Long's residence, including journals and scrapbooks filled with photographs of the victims taken over a span of more than a decade, from 2003 to 2016. These writings detailed Long’s disturbing sexual fantasies and his gratification derived from these acts.
During the police search, officers discovered a briefcase filled with images of the girls he had sprayed, accompanied by obscene comments, which further underscored the depravity of his actions. The court was told that Long had admitted to 13 charges of sexual touching involving three identified children, as well as 10 other victims whose identities were not disclosed. In addition, Long pleaded guilty to possessing 132 indecent photographs of children, adding to the gravity of his crimes.
Long’s plea also included an admission that he wished to have 186 other incidents, similar in nature, taken into account during sentencing. As a result of his guilty pleas, he was sentenced to six years and eight months in prison. Furthermore, he was placed on the sex offenders register and subjected to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order, aimed at restricting his contact with minors and preventing further offenses.
This case has left a lasting impact on the community, highlighting the importance of vigilance and the need for stringent measures to protect children from such predatory individuals. The court’s decision reflects the seriousness with which the justice system treats crimes of this nature, especially those involving the exploitation of vulnerable minors.
