Loughborough Sexual Abuser

November 2015 Man who groomed young girl and took her to hotel for sex is jailed for 10 years A married man who groomed a young schoolgirl and took her to hotels for sex was jailed for 10 years. Ian Jarrom, 26, who also goes by the name David Carver, admitted three counts of sexual activity with a child. Leicester Crown Court was told that Jarrom, of Racecourse Mews, Loughborough, befriended the victim when she was 12. Mary Prior, prosecuting, said that he groomed her by alienating her from family and friends and gave her a ring. He provided her with two phones, one for general use, and one for their exclusive use. She said: “He exploited her by buying her things and then expecting sexual favours in return. “He corrupted her into thinking that police officers and social workers were her enemies. He took her virginity on the first of three occasions he pre-booked hotel rooms for sex, when she was 13. After each encounter he made her take a morning after pill. Following his arrest he tried to made a suicide pact with her and ignored a police “abduction notice” banning further contact. Mrs Prior said the victim suffered “severe psychological harm” and has been receiving intensive therapy. Judge Ebraham Mooncey made a restraining order, banning Jarrom from ever contacting her. He told the defendant: “You would tell her to come out at night without her family knowing and committed the full act of sexual intercourse with her. “You told her to tell anyone who asked, to say she was older than she was and not to reveal the nature of your relationship. “Matters came to light when she wanted to visit a friend at a children’s home and the defendant accompanied her. “You told her to say he was an uncle. “Fortunately social workers suspected you weren’t her uncle and alerted the authorities. “You were arrested and made a huge commotion when the police arrived. “I know you have mental health issues which came to the fore and you had to be admitted to the Bradgate Psychiatric Unit.” The court heard the defendant unsuccessfully tried to persuade the victim to stab, with glass, the woman police officer conducting the inquiry. Jarrom was placed on a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will be on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.
