DAVID KIDD SENTENCED IN BASILDON FOR CHILD SEXUAL ASSAULT AND INDECENT IMAGES
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Basildon, a local man named David Kidd has been formally sentenced following his involvement in a serious sexual assault against a young girl. The incident, which took place in November 2020, was reported by the victim’s family, describing it as “every parent’s worst nightmare.” According to reports, the victim, a young girl under the age of 13, disclosed that she had been sexually assaulted by Kidd, who resides at Appleford Court in Basildon.
The police responded swiftly to the allegations, launching an investigation that led to Kidd’s immediate arrest.
Essex Police officers executed a warrant at Kidd’s residence, during which they seized multiple electronic devices, including mobile phones and a laptop, for forensic analysis.
Subsequent forensic examinations of the seized devices revealed disturbing evidence.
Investigators found internet searches related to children, as well as indecent images of minors.
These findings significantly contributed to the case against Kidd, highlighting the severity of his actions and the potential ongoing risk he posed.
In September 2021, Kidd was formally charged with two counts of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 13, along with three counts of making indecent images of children.
Despite initially pleading not guilty to all charges, Kidd changed his plea during the trial.
On July 18, 2023, at Basildon Crown Court, he admitted to all allegations against him, marking a pivotal moment in the case.
Following his guilty pleas, Kidd was sentenced on September 8, 2023.
The court handed down a sentence of two years’ imprisonment, which was suspended for two years.
This means Kidd will not serve time in prison unless he breaches the conditions of his suspension.
The court also imposed a series of rehabilitative measures aimed at addressing his behavior and preventing future offenses.
As part of his sentence, Kidd is required to complete a 40-day accredited rehabilitation program, participate in a 60-day activity requirement focused on rehabilitation, and undergo 12 months of mental health treatment.
Additionally, he will be monitored via electronic tagging for a year and will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order for ten years.
Kidd is also mandated to sign the sex offenders’ register, ensuring ongoing oversight of his activities and compliance with legal restrictions designed to protect the community from further harm.
