BASILDON PAEDOPHILE KIERAN MILLER JAILED FOR TIKTOK MESSAGES
A man from south Essex who committed sexual offenses against children has been jailed after being caught using multiple social media accounts under eight different names to communicate with a 14-year-old girl.Kieran Miller, aged 23 and residing in Mynchens, Basildon, contacted the girl via TikTok, claiming he was only 15 years old, and exchanged flirtatious messages with her.
Miller, who had prior convictions for child abduction and the dissemination of sexually explicit images of minors, was discovered when police unexpectedly arrived at one of his probation meetings and examined his phone.
He was sentenced to prison at Basildon Crown Court on Thursday, June 18, after the probation service assessed him as “unmanageable in the community” and posing a “significant risk of sexual harm to children.” During the hearing, Miller, dressed in a black and gold UB40 T-shirt, wept while reading a letter in which he expressed remorse and a desire to reform his behavior.
However, Judge Siew Loke stated that although she believed his remorse was genuine, the only appropriate sentence was custody.
In 2020, Miller was convicted of child abduction.
He faced court again in 2025 after police were alerted to an Instagram account that was uploading indecent images of children.
They identified the account as Miller’s and found him in possession of 92 illegal images and videos.
He had shared this material both on Instagram and Telegram, and had also sent it to others across various platforms.
He received a 20-month sentence, suspended for two years, along with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) restricting his communication with minors and requiring him to surrender his phone for random inspections by Essex Police.
On April 17, 2026, police attended one of Miller’s probation appointments and requested to see his mobile device.
Prosecutor Pamela Muniya stated, “The defendant became very uneasy and claimed he felt unwell and wanted to visit the restroom.
However, he eventually handed over his phone.
It was found that he had breached his SHPO by communicating via TikTok with a user between April 13 and 15.” “The user told the defendant she was 14 but would turn 15 soon.
During that exchange, Miller pretended to be a 15-year-old boy and engaged in flirtatious messaging.” It was also discovered that Miller used eight different online aliases and had several active social media accounts.
Miller pleaded guilty to breaching his SHPO, failing to comply with sex offender notification requirements, and admitted that his new offenses breached the terms of his suspended sentence.
Defense solicitor Tamera Sher said, “He recognizes he has difficulties communicating with children online.
He knows he has a problem but claims he’s tried to stop and cannot help his actions at this time.” The court was told that Miller has learning difficulties and a history of mental health issues.
In a tearful letter read aloud to the judge, he said: “I’ve done a lot of thinking about my actions and behavior.” He added that being detained in prison while awaiting sentencing had been “a horrible experience,” and expressed full accountability, stating, “I genuinely want to change because I want to become a better person.” Judge Siew Loke acknowledged his statements, saying, “I have heard what you have said, and I accept that reading this out loud in court must have been difficult for you.
I recognize your desire for help.” Nonetheless, she emphasized that the probation service’s cautions were “stark,” and legal guidelines compelled her to activate his suspended sentence unless it would be unjust to do so.
She sentenced him to 18 months for his new offenses, to be served consecutively with ten months of his previous suspended sentence, totaling two years and four months in custody.
He will be eligible for release on license after serving 14 months.
