DAVID JONES PERVERT FROM FRAMPTON AND STONEHOUSE SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF SCHOOLGIRL
In a disturbing case that has shocked the communities of Frampton-on-Severn and Stonehouse, David Jones, a 55-year-old man with ties to both locations, has been convicted of a series of heinous sexual offenses against a young girl. The crimes spanned over a two-year period, during which Jones, who was involved in managing fishing lakes in Frampton, repeatedly assaulted and sexually abused the girl, who was between the ages of 12 and 14 at the time.Jones, originally from Frampton but residing on High Street in Stonehouse, was found guilty by a jury at Gloucester Crown Court after a detailed trial. The court heard that the offenses took place between 2004 and 2007, with the victim now 25 years old, coming forward only in July of the previous year to report the abuse to Stroud police. The jury's unanimous verdict confirmed that Jones had committed at least 36 separate incidents of sexual misconduct against the girl.
Prosecutor David Maunder provided a detailed account of the abuse, revealing that Jones was responsible for several fishing lakes in Frampton-on-Severn. The victim and her mother would often see him at these lakes while out riding horses in the area. The girl, who was between nine and ten years old at the time, first encountered Jones during a walk around a lake with her dogs. It was during this initial meeting that Jones made inappropriate comments, telling her, “You’ll never need another bloke in your life because you’ll always have me,” before kissing her neck and touching her over her clothes.
Despite recognizing that his actions were wrong, the girl felt helpless and unsure of how to respond. Over the following months and years, Jones continued to assault her on multiple occasions, with the abuse occurring at least 13 times when she was 12, and on at least 25 occasions when she was aged 13 and 14. The victim, who has since become a mother herself, endured the trauma in silence for years, struggling with substance abuse and emotional turmoil as a result of the abuse.
The situation escalated to a point where the girl, overwhelmed by her distress, shouted at Jones to stop when he approached her from behind as she was bending down. This outburst marked the end of the abuse, and Jones has not molested her since. The victim has since sought to rebuild her life and expressed her motivation for coming forward: she did not want her own daughter to experience similar abuse.
During the trial, Jones denied all allegations, claiming that the accusations were fabricated and suggesting that the girl had associated with the wrong crowd. However, the jury was convinced of his guilt after hearing the evidence. Judge Michael Cullum sentenced Jones to three years and three months in prison, emphasizing the severity and callousness of his actions. The judge also ordered Jones to sign the sex offenders register for life and barred him from working with children in the future.
Addressing Jones directly, the judge remarked that he had shown no remorse and highlighted the profound impact of his crimes on the victim’s life. The court’s decision reflects the seriousness with which such offenses are treated, especially when committed by an individual with a previous good character. The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and justice in protecting vulnerable children from predators in communities like Frampton and Stonehouse.
