August 2017 Pervert jailed after police sex sting A sex offender was caught by an undercover police sting after officers posed as mothers offering up their underage daughters for him to abuse. David Jackson thought he was talking to the mothers of young girls in various internet chatrooms but, in reality, the women were undercover police officers from West Mercia and Warwickshire Police working as part of ‘Operation Safenet’. Jackson, aged 48, formerly of Blackfriars Avenue, Droitwich, admitted nine sexual offences when he appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Thursday to be sentenced. The most serious offence was attempting to incite a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity between May 8 and May 12 this year. He further admitted four counts of attempting to arrange or facilitate the commission of a sexual offence. These offences happened between November 30 last year and March 31 this year, on February 28 this year and between March 23 and June 9 this year. Jackson further admitted three counts of making indecent images of children between September 1 last year and June 9 this year and one of distributing an indecent image of a child in December 19 last year. He sent the category B image to an undercover police officer. Jackson never attended any of the arranged meetings and told officers in interview it had been ‘mere fantasy’. Harinderpal Dhami, prosecuting, said: “Officers in the main said they were parents with young children and were abusing the children and open to others abusing the children.” An officer pretended to be a mother with two daughters aged six and 12 years who was prepared to let Jackson abuse them. Jackson arranged to meet the ‘mother’ at a service station and even discussed booking a hotel where the abuse would take place. However, Jackson backed out of the meeting, saying it felt ‘wrong’. Jackson also arranged to travel to Leicester to meet an officer he believed was an underage girl. Jackson was prepared to meet a girl he thought was 12 years old and discussed sexual activity with an officer, believing it was the girl, in a private internet chatroom. He also arranged to meet with an underage girl at a service station on the M1 where there was a Travelodge Hotel but again backed out because he thought it was ‘too good to be true’. Police arrested him at his home and seized a Samsung mobile phone which contained indecent images of children – two at category A (the most serious kind), six at category B and eight at category C. Jackson is a man of previous good character with no previous convictions. Jackson, who has the support of his parents and partner, said: “Clearly the content of my discussions were abhorrent. I’m extremely ashamed and embarrassed I was having such discussions.” He added: “I have lost my liberty, my job, my house, my friends, my family and my self-respect.” Recorder Martin Jackson jailed Jackson for a total of four years. He sentenced him to four years for attempting to incite sexual activity with a child, the most serious of the offences. All the other jail sentences were concurrent to this four year term – three years for each of the four attempts to arrange a child sex offence, eight months for distribution of an indecent image, six months for making category A indecent images, four months for making the category B images and two months for the category C images. July 2017 Pervert caught trying to arrange child abuse in undercover police sting A BUSINESSMAN caught by undercover police officers when he tried to set up meetings to commit child sex abuse is facing a jail sentence. David Jackson, 48, of Blackfriars Avenue, Droitwich, admitted four charges of trying to arrange to travel and meet up with men and women he thought would provide him with the opportunity to abuse children. He also pleaded guilty to attempting to incite a 12-year-old child to engage in sexual activity in May this year and to four child sex abuse images charges when he appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Monday (July 24) The offences took place between November last year and June this year. Jackson admitted trying to arrange a meeting with a woman who had a child aged six, a woman with a child aged 12, another woman with a child aged 11 and a man with a child aged 11 on separate occasions – but he was talking only to undercover police officers, the court heard. He admitted having a small number of child porn images on his mobile phone and of distributing two images to an undercover officer. Nicholas Berry, defending, applied for a pre-sentence report for Jackson, who was described as a family man of positive good character who ran a successful business in Birmingham. “The court will want a better understanding of how on earth at his age he is in this position,” Mr Berry told the court. The report will also assess the level of future risk or dangerousness. Jackson was ordered to register as a sex offender and was further remanded in custody to appear again for sentence on August 24. “It is inevitable that you will go to jail,” Judge Nicholas Cole told him.
