DAVID HOUGH SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON FOR ABUSE IN DODDINGHURST AND SCUNTHORPE

In a case that has sent shockwaves through the communities of Doddinghurst and Scunthorpe, David Hough has been handed a life sentence after being convicted of heinous sexual offenses involving underage boys. The disturbing crimes took place over a span of more than a decade, with the earliest incidents dating back to 1996 and the latest in 2010, all while Hough was residing in the Doddinghurst area of Essex.

Details of the case emerged following a police operation carried out by officers from Humberside Police. In April 2019, authorities executed a warrant at Hough’s residence on Derwent Road in Scunthorpe as part of an ongoing investigation into the possession and distribution of indecent images of children. During the search, law enforcement officials seized various electronic devices, including a mobile phone, a tablet, and several memory cards. These items were subjected to forensic analysis, which uncovered a disturbing collection of images and videos depicting the abuse of minors.

David Hough, aged 56 at the time of his arrest, faced multiple charges related to his actions. He initially admitted to over 20 offenses, which included numerous counts of rape, inciting or causing children to engage in sexual activities, as well as the production and dissemination of indecent images of children. Additionally, he was charged with possessing extreme pornographic material. The investigation into the indecent and extreme images was conducted by Humberside Police and covered offenses committed in North Lincolnshire in 2019, as well as in Essex between 2007 and 2008.

Hough initially denied one count of rape and indecent assault. However, during his trial at Grimsby Crown Court, which commenced on Monday, 17 February, he changed his plea and admitted to the rape charge. The court subsequently sentenced him to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 10 years before he is eligible for parole. The sentencing marks a significant victory for justice and underscores the severity of his crimes against vulnerable children in both Essex and North Lincolnshire.
