DAVID HALL FROM ASTON-ON-TRENT AND DERBY SENTENCED FOR MULTIPLE SEX OFFENCES AGAINST CHILDREN

In a series of disturbing criminal cases, David Hall, a man with ties to Aston-on-Trent and Derby, has been convicted and sentenced for a string of serious sexual offences involving young girls. His criminal history spans over a decade, with his most recent sentencing occurring in August 2012, following revelations of abuse that began in the mid-1990s.

Hall, aged 45 and formerly residing in Aston-on-Trent, was found to have committed heinous acts against a young girl over a period of ten years. The abuse reportedly started in 1995 when the victim was only nine years old. The victim eventually came forward in 2009, bringing to light the extent of Hall’s misconduct. This led to his arrest and subsequent charges, which included rape, indecent assault, and the taking of indecent photographs of a child.

During a court hearing at Warwick Crown Court on Tuesday, August 28, Hall pleaded guilty to all charges. The court sentenced him to an additional 14 years in prison, with the sentence being served consecutively to his previous incarceration. Hall, who was described as having no fixed address at the time, was also given an indefinite prison term with a minimum tariff of five years. This means he will remain in prison for at least five years before any possibility of parole, but the overall sentence could see him detained indefinitely.

Hall’s criminal record is extensive. In 2009, he was already serving an indefinite sentence after admitting to raping and sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl, as well as indecently assaulting another young girl. His previous crimes led to his registration on the sex offenders’ register for life, and he was permanently banned from working with children. These measures reflect the severity of his offences and the ongoing risk he poses to the public.

Earlier, in October 2009, Hall was given an even more severe sentence after a court found him guilty of multiple rapes and sexual assaults. He was described as acting in a manner reminiscent of a film director during the commission of his crimes, with the judge, John Burgess, condemning the acts as a “shabby experience” to witness. Hall was sentenced to an open-ended term for public protection, with a minimum of five years and 190 days before he could be considered for parole. The judge emphasized that Hall’s actions posed a significant risk of further harm to children.

During the trial, it was revealed that Hall had raped one girl repeatedly when she was 11 and 12 years old, continuing the abuse for two additional years. He also engaged in sexual activity with another girl when she was just nine. Prosecutor Julie Warburton detailed how Hall would give the victims alcohol, such as Southern Comfort, which made them feel dizzy, and would sometimes show them pornography during the assaults. Hall also manipulated the girls by showering them with gifts, including money, jewelry, clothes, and mobile phones. One victim was promised a motorcycle helmet with the intention of giving her a motorbike once she turned 16, and Hall expressed his love for her, suggesting she could live with him when she was 16.

The victims eventually confided in school friends, prompting police investigations. The emotional toll on the girls was profound, with reports of nightmares, anger, and fears of further abuse. Their families also experienced significant distress due to the case. In mitigation, Keith Raynor, representing Hall, expressed remorse, stating that Hall apologized to the victims and claimed to be seeking help. Hall reportedly felt shame and guilt and had consulted a psychiatrist to understand his own psycho-sexual issues.

Despite his remorse, Hall’s criminal record includes no previous sexual offences, but he has been jailed before for robbery and wounding. Notably, in 1999, he received a seven-year sentence for conspiracy to rob, an offence involving firearms. His latest convictions underscore the grave danger he poses to society and the importance of ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect children from potential harm.
