DAVID FALLOWFIELD LEEDS SEX OFFENDER SENTENCED TO 22 YEARS FOR CAMPAIGN OF RAPE AND ABUSE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Leeds, David Fallowfield, a 65-year-old man with a long history of sexual offences, has been convicted of a brutal and sustained campaign of sexual abuse against a woman.The victim, who kept a detailed diary of the abuse she endured, revealed that Fallowfield subjected her to multiple assaults, sometimes up to three times in a single day, over a prolonged period.
Fallowfield’s criminal record is extensive, with ten convictions spanning thirteen separate offences.
His past includes three counts of indecent exposure during the 1980s and 1990s, as well as convictions for making obscene phone calls and indecent assaults on children.
Despite his age and previous incarcerations, his pattern of offending persisted, leading to the recent conviction at Leeds Crown Court.
The court heard that Fallowfield initially befriended the woman approximately ten years ago after moving onto her estate in East Leeds.
His initial interactions appeared friendly and helpful, which may have contributed to her trust.
However, this facade quickly dissolved as he began to verbally abuse her, creating an atmosphere of intimidation and fear.
Despite police warnings for harassment, Fallowfield’s behavior escalated into sexual abuse, culminating in multiple rapes and assaults.
During the trial, the victim’s diary served as crucial evidence, illustrating the systematic nature of Fallowfield’s abuse.
The court found him guilty of four counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, and one count of sexual assault.
The severity and duration of his offending prompted the judge, Ray Singh, to impose a substantial sentence.
Judge Singh described the case as a prolonged and entrenched pattern of sexual offending, emphasizing that the victim’s vulnerability prevented her from reporting the crimes earlier, fearing disbelief from authorities.
The judge stated, “It went on for years.
On a number of occasions, you raped several times on a single day.
Such was her vulnerability she did not report the matters because she did not think the police would believe her.” Fallowfield’s sentence includes 18 years of imprisonment, with an additional four years on extended licence.
He is required to serve at least two-thirds of this term before being eligible for parole.
Furthermore, he will be placed on the sex offenders register for life and subject to a lifelong restraining order to prevent any contact with the victim.
Judge Singh concluded by condemning Fallowfield’s actions, highlighting the failure of past interventions to curb his offending despite his advanced age.
The court’s decision reflects the seriousness of his crimes and the ongoing threat he poses to the community and the victim.
