DANIELLE EDNEY CAUGHT IN CRAWLEY CHILD PREDATOR STINGS AND SENTENCED TO FOUR YEARS
In a series of disturbing incidents that have shocked the community of Crawley, a man named Danielle Edney has been convicted and sentenced to a total of four years in prison for attempting to engage in sexual activities with minors.Edney, aged 30, was involved in two separate predator stings conducted by different paedophile hunting groups, revealing a troubling pattern of predatory behavior.
His first encounter occurred in May 2022 when he was caught by the STOP predator hunting team, acting on behalf of the South London Cybersafety (SLC) group.
The decoy, managed by Harry Taylor, was a 13-year-old girl, and Edney believed he was meeting her for sexual purposes.
During this sting, Edney was found to have instructed the decoy to bring an overnight bag, her school uniform, and a bikini, suggesting he intended to meet her for sexual abuse.
He also allegedly advised her to visit a sexual health clinic to obtain condoms and spoke of using restraints during their meeting.
When confronted at the designated meeting spot, Edney was detained by the predator hunters, who then handed over evidence to the police.
At the time of this first incident, Edney confirmed he was 29 years old.
He attempted to justify his actions by claiming that he sought out children for sex due to difficulties in forming relationships with adults.
He also admitted to having been previously arrested for impersonating a police officer at the Crawley Pride parade, where he was found carrying police-grade handcuffs, which he claimed were for protection but did not specify from whom.
During the confrontation, Edney made a series of controversial statements, including declaring, “I’m a transwoman of God, I’ll tell you the truth,” and admitting to talking to children online since 2019.
He also claimed that he was battling inner demons, specifically mentioning Beelzebub and Lucifer, which he said influenced his actions.
The footage from this sting was shared on Twitter on January 29, attracting public attention and concern.
Following his arrest on May 14, Edney was released but soon became vocal online, using the social media handle “Sussex Bail Bonds” to criticize paedophile hunting groups.
His troubling pattern continued when, in December 2022, he was caught again in an unrelated predator sting by a different paedophile hunting team that was unaware of his prior criminal history.
During this second sting, Edney again claimed that he was driven by “uncontrollable sexual urges” and stated that he had never engaged in sexual relations before, instead resorting to pornography and sex toys to satisfy his desires.
Authorities swiftly acted on the evidence provided by the second team, leading to his re-arrest.
The Crown Prosecution Service decided to remand Edney into custody, and he faced serious charges.
Ultimately, he was sentenced to four years in prison, with an additional five-year extended sentence.
As part of his punishment, Edney was ordered to register as a sex offender and was subject to a sexual harm prevention order, aimed at protecting the community from further risk.
Throughout the proceedings, the court emphasized the severity of Edney’s actions and the danger posed to minors.
His case has drawn significant media attention and raised ongoing concerns about online predators and the importance of vigilant community and law enforcement efforts to protect vulnerable children from exploitation.
