June 2014 Judge decides not to jail Crawley man who possessed indecent images and video’s of children and animals A man who made indecent photographs and video footage of young children has been spared jail. Christopher Loades was also found to have extreme pornographic images of a person engaging in a sexual act with a dog. The 50-year-old, from Stone Court in Maidenbower, was sentenced at Hove Crown Court. He had previously pleaded guilty to making four indecent images of children and an indecent film of a child, as well as possessing the animal abuse images and videos. All the offences took place between January 2012 and June last year. Sushil Kumar, defending, argued that the images were of a less serious nature than in many similar cases before the courts. He said: “One of the images shows an adult female and a juvenile female. “The back of both the females can be seen, with the adult positioned over the child. “This is no more than posing, there is no sexual action involved.” Although the children pictured were not yet teenagers Mr Kumar claimed they were “not very young”. He added: “This is not a sophisticated crime. He has been in possession (of images) by way of downloading. Mr Loades has expressed remorse and he remains very remorseful for what he has done.” Mark Robinson, prosecuting, applied to the court for the computer hard drive where the images and video were discovered to be destroyed. However, Loades’ representative objected to this in its entirety. Mr Kumar said: “Mr Loades is concerned by the forfeiture and destruction of the hard drive because he has some particularly valuable images of sentimental value of his son and his family. “He would like to keep these.” Judge Paul Tain decided that if Loades is willing to finance the police costs to transfer the legal images from the hard drive to another, and the process is technically possible, then the court would allow it. In this case the remainder of the hard drive would be destroyed. Sentencing Loades, Judge Tain said: “You have been viewing unlawful imagery on the internet. The offences do pass the custody threshold but, following the recommendations in the pre-sentence report, which advise you are a low threat of making contact with children, I am going to suspend the sentence.” Loades was given an eight-month jail term suspended for two years and he will also be supervised for two years. Judge Tain also imposed a sexual offences prevention order for five years, which bans Loades from using any device where he is able to access the internet. Loades, who is unemployed, was ordered to pay court costs of £320 and a victim surcharge of £100. A Sussex Police spokesman revealed that police had raided Loades’ home after a tip-off that he had distributed indecent images of children. He said: “When his laptop was examined a number of indecent images were found stored on it, ranging from those classified as level 3 to the most extreme level 5.” May 2014 Pervert made indecent images of children and had sick animal porn THIS is Christopher Loades, who has admitted making indecent images of children and possessing sick images of a person having sex with dogs. He was due to be sentenced yesterday (Thursday) but a legal argument over a sexual offences prevention order has meant that has now been pushed back to May 30. The third charge relates to possession of extreme pornographic images of a person having sex with dogs during the same period. Loades has been released on unconditional bail ahead of his sentencing.
