March 2021 Notts teenager downloaded indecent images of kids as young as six months old A teenager who downloaded sick images of children as young as six months old told police he was “addicted” to porn Officers carried out a search warrant at Daniel Newton’s home in Top Valley on November 11 last year, after receiving intelligence about his IP address, said prosecutor Lauren Butts at Nottingham Magistrates Court. His i-phone and computer tower were seized, and analysis revealed he had 76 indecent images and movies of children at Category A, as well as 47 Category B, and 20 Category C images. The children were aged between six months and 17 years. He also downloaded 333 images and movies of extreme pornography, featuring sexual acts between humans and living animals. He told officers he exchanged nudes online, via Snapchat, and said: “It’s lockdown. It’s got me bored and I don’t know what to do.” In a later interview, Newton said he had been “addicted” for a long time and had tried to stop downloading the images. Newton, 18, of Darwin Close, pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent photographs of children and one of possessing extreme pornography. Judge Shaun Smith QC told him: “Unfortunately you started to look at illegal pornographic images. “The sad thing is although they are pictures – there are real victims. Whatever is being done to them in the pictures is being done to them in real life. “What you are doing is feeding the people who are taking those photos and encouraging them to abuse more young people. “It is clear whatever you were watching when you were 15 had tapered off and you weren’t requesting them. You clearly have a problem. Thankfully you have recognised this. You have self-referred to a programme.” On Wednesday, at Nottingham Crown Court, the judge imposed an 18-month community order with 36 rehabilitation sessions. A Sexual Harm Prevention Order was put in place for five years to monitor his internet use.
