DANE BARTHOLOMEW SENTENCED TO OVER 12 YEARS IN PRISON IN WOLVERHAMPTON

A 35-year-old man named Dane Bartholomew has been sentenced to more than 12 years behind bars for the sexual assault of a young girl in Wolverhampton. The case came to light after the victim bravely reported the abuse to her family, who then contacted authorities. Bartholomew faced serious charges, including two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault involving a girl under 13 years old.

During the investigation, authorities found images connected to the offences on Bartholomew’s phone. Confronted with the evidence and the compelling testimony of the girl, he changed his plea to guilty on the first day of his trial. The court proceedings culminated in a sentence handed down at Wolverhampton Crown Court on June 17, where Bartholomew received a sentence of 12 years and four months in prison.

In addition to his custodial sentence, he was issued a 20-year sexual harm prevention order and will be on the Sex Offender Register for life.

Detective Constable James Cox from the child protection unit praised the victim’s resilience, saying, "Throughout this process his young victim has been remarkable and truly resilient. This young girl had the courage to speak up to her family about what was happening, prompting immediate action to bring her abuser to justice." He emphasized that speaking out is vital, as it helps ensure that offenders are held accountable for their crimes.
