MAN CHARGED WITH STALKING AND SEXUAL ASSAULT FOLLOWING SERIES OF INCIDENTS IN SOUTHAMPTO
A man has been formally accused of stalking and sexual assault following a series of incidents involving a 19-year-old woman in Southampton.According to reports to the police, on Sunday, February 9, the man entered the woman’s workplace in the Woolston district and inappropriately touched her over her clothing.
The woman, who did not know the man prior to the incidents, stated that he had been frequenting her workplace since July 2024, making discomforting comments and attempting to give her unwanted presents.
Police responded to the reports, arresting the individual, who was found carrying a knife.
Craig Wesley Mintram, 43, of Weston Lane, was charged with sexual assault, possessing a sharp or pointed item in a public space, and stalking.
He was held in custody and appeared before Southampton Magistrates Court on Tuesday, February 11.
His next appearance will be at Southampton Crown Court on March 11.
The authorities emphasize that violence against women and girls remains a top priority and that all such reports are taken very seriously.
