CLAIR WINKWORTH AND SHOCKING CHILD ABUSE IN SOUTHAMPTON

A pregnant woman in Southampton has been found guilty of engaging in sexual abuse involving young children within the confines of her own flat.

The conviction highlights a disturbing case that has left the community shaken and raised serious concerns about safety within private residences.

Clair Winkworth, who is also a mother to a three-year-old girl, now faces the prospect of imprisonment as a result of her actions.

She was convicted on eight separate charges after a detailed trial held at Southampton Crown Court.

The charges involved two young boys and two young girls, all of whom were manipulated and coerced into participating in sexually inappropriate behaviour.

Winkworth was accused of enticing these children into various sexual games, some of which involved encouraging them to touch her and perform acts in her presence.

The court heard that Winkworth organized and facilitated activities such as 'Truth or Dare' and a game involving sex dice at her residence in Redbridge Towers.

These games ultimately led to the children being separated into different rooms where they performed explicit acts.

One particularly distressing detail revealed how she had urged boys to touch her body, extorting or persuading them into sexual acts.

A significant part of the evidence was derived from a taped police interview with one of the boys involved.

During the interview—conducted in front of his mother—the young boy described a scene where Winkworth and two girls performed lap dances for him and his friend while they were only dressed in boxer shorts.

The girls wore pyjamas, and Winkworth was seated on a sofa dressed in revealing red lace underwear, presenting a disturbing image of manipulation and exploitation.

Legal proceedings also uncovered the details of the 'sex dice' game.

The dice had words such as 'suck,' 'tickle,' 'lick,' and 'nibble' on one, and locations within Winkworth’s flat on the other.

The young participant explained how, after rolling the dice, they were instructed to perform sexual acts on themselves or others based on the dice outcome, further emphasizing the predatory nature of her actions.

Police also found incriminating items during a search of Winkworth’s residence.

These included a Valentine’s card and two pairs of thongs that one of the boys had given her, along with a sex game and sex toys, all of which reinforced the evidence of her inappropriate conduct.

The court proceedings revealed that Winkworth was guilty of seven counts related to causing or inciting children to engage in sexual activity, and one count of having sexual activity with a child.

Throughout the trial, she maintained her innocence, claiming that the children’s allegations were fabricated as part of a conspiracy to deprive her of custody of her daughter.

Judge John Boggis QC, in delivering the verdict, expressed his revulsion at the character of her actions.

He remanded Winkworth in custody pending reports and warned her that she could expect a custodial sentence due to the severity of her crimes.

During the trial, she displayed minimal remorse; her initial reaction to the guilty verdicts was a grin and clenched fist, while she showed no outward emotion upon further convictions after the jury's deliberation, which took over seven hours.

This case underscores the importance of vigilance and thorough investigation when it comes to protecting children from exploitation and abuse.

Metropolitan officers like DC Clair Mason emphasized that despite the unusual nature of the case, authorities remain committed to taking all allegations seriously and pursuing justice for victims of such heinous crimes.
