CHRISTOPHER ROBINSON FROM MARGATE CAUGHT WITH INDECENT CHILD IMAGES AND SEX CHATS
In April 2012, authorities conducted a detailed raid on the residence of Christopher Robinson, a 32-year-old man living in St Peter's Road, Margate.The police investigation uncovered a disturbing collection of digital evidence, including Skype conversations and web-based sexual chats with underage girls as young as 14.
Additionally, nine indecent photographs of children were discovered on Robinson's computer during the search, raising serious concerns about his involvement in child exploitation.
During the court proceedings held at Thanet Magistrates' Court on a Friday, the court was informed that Robinson initially denied any wrongdoing, claiming he was a “happily married man” and suggesting that his online activity might have been the result of a hacking incident.
However, he eventually broke down during police interviews, revealing more about his online behavior.
Miss Reynolds, the prosecutor, explained that the computer contained evidence of “sexual chat” where Robinson had encouraged young girls to send him explicit images of themselves.
The chats, conducted via Teen Chat, revealed that Robinson used the alias “Daddy,” a name he explained was linked to his feelings of missing his own child, who had been removed by social services.
It was also disclosed that Robinson had a prior conviction in 2009 for possessing indecent images of children, indicating a troubling pattern of behavior.
His defense attorney, Paul Shingleton, argued that Robinson had been subjected to “vendetta attacks” at his home, which forced him to leave the area.
The pre-sentence report presented in court described Robinson as having “minimal sexual experience” and exhibiting signs of “emotional immaturity.” District Judge Justin Barron sentenced Robinson to a two-year community order, which includes supervision and participation in a sex offenders' rehabilitation program.
Furthermore, Robinson was placed on the sex offenders' register for five years and ordered to pay costs amounting to £85.
The court emphasized the seriousness of the case, highlighting the importance of monitoring Robinson's risk to children and ensuring appropriate measures are taken to prevent further harm.
