TREVOR ISAACS, MARGATE SEX OFFENDER, CONVICTED OF SEXUAL ASSAULT

In September 2012, a 48-year-old man from Margate named Trevor Isaacs was convicted of sexual assault after he kissed a 15-year-old girl and sent her flirtatious text messages. Isaacs, who resides on Northdown Road, had initiated contact with the girl at the end of the previous year, sending what the court described as "amorous" messages and expressing a desire to have an affair.

During the proceedings at Thanet Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, it was revealed that Isaacs told police there was nothing wrong with his advances. Prosecutor Richard Parkin stated, "He said it was a normal and acceptable thing to do and he also asked the interviewing officer if he wouldn’t do the same."

The court heard that Isaacs's communication began at the end of 2011, when he told the girl he wanted to start an affair. She responded that she did not want any involvement with him. Subsequently, Isaacs instructed her to delete the messages he had sent.

The situation escalated on January 26 when Isaacs attempted to kiss the girl at his home. Mr. Parkin explained, "She said she felt nervous being left alone with him. He bent down and kissed her directly on the lips, and she felt his tongue as he did that."

The girl reported the incident to a teacher on January 31, after which Isaacs was arrested. Following a pre-sentence report, District Judge Justin Barron described Isaacs’ behavior as "wholly inappropriate," though he noted the report did not suggest a high risk of reoffending.

Isaacs, who had earlier admitted to the charge, was sentenced to a community order with a 12-month supervision requirement and 100 hours of unpaid work. He will also be placed on the sex offenders’ register for five years, during which he must inform police of any change of address or name. In addition, Judge Barron ordered Isaacs to pay £85 in court costs.
