A suspect has been charged in connection with a serious sexual assault in Colchester.
The incident occurred around 11pm on May 4, when a woman was approached in the Greenstead area between The Chase and Stanley Wooster Way.
The man sexually assaulted the woman during the encounter.
After police investigations and a request for public assistance, authorities arrested a suspect.
The man, identified as 19-year-old Christopher Flomo of Hawthorn Avenue, Colchester, faces seven counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault.
He is scheduled to appear before Chelmsford Magistrates Court on Thursday, May 21.
Detective Inspector Tim Coyle stated that the case has seen significant progress thanks to community engagement.
He emphasized that public information played a key role in identifying the suspect and that cooperation with the Crown Prosecution Service led to formal charges.
Coyle also thanked the local community for their trust and their assistance in providing relevant information.
