CHRISTOPHER BUNN FROM BRIGHTON AND NEWPORT JAILED FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AND SHOPLIFTING
In a case that has shocked the local communities of Brighton and Newport, Christopher Bunn, a man with a troubling history, has been sentenced to prison after being found guilty of possessing indecent images of children and attempting to evade justice. The incident that led to his arrest occurred in Brighton, where Bunn was caught in 2014 at the Jubilee Library, located in the heart of Brighton, while viewing inappropriate and illegal images of minors.
According to reports, Bunn, then 38 years old and residing on Stanley Street in Brighton, was observed by library staff engaging in activities that involved viewing and possibly downloading child sexual abuse images.
His actions did not go unnoticed, and he was promptly detained by security personnel.
Following this, he was taken into custody and bailed, but instead of complying with the legal process, Bunn chose to go on the run.
His disappearance prompted a police investigation, and authorities issued appeals to the public through the BBC’s Crimewatch program, seeking information that could lead to his arrest.
Despite efforts to locate him, Bunn managed to evade capture for some time.
His flight from justice ended when he was discovered in Newport, Gwent, Wales, where he was apprehended for shoplifting.
During routine police checks following his arrest, officers identified him as the suspect involved in the child abuse image case.
Further investigations revealed that Bunn was in possession of additional indecent images of children, leading to multiple charges.
His criminal activities and attempts to avoid prosecution culminated in a court appearance at Cardiff Crown Court.
There, Bunn pleaded guilty to three counts of taking indecent images of children and three counts of possessing such images.
The court sentenced him to a total of four years and eight months in prison for these offenses.
In addition to the charges related to child abuse images, Bunn admitted to perverting the course of justice and was also convicted of two counts of shoplifting in Newport, Gwent.
These convictions resulted in an additional four months of imprisonment.
When combined, Bunn’s total jail time now stands at five years, reflecting the severity of his crimes and his efforts to evade law enforcement.
His case underscores the ongoing efforts of police and judicial authorities to combat child exploitation and ensure that offenders are held accountable for their actions.
