CHRISTIAN TURNER SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES AND VOYEURISM IN EAST SUSSEX
A man identified as Christian Charles Turner has been sentenced to more than three years in prison for a range of serious crimes involving young girls in East Sussex.Turner, aged 30 and residing on Little London Road in Horam, appeared before Hove Crown Court where he received a total custodial sentence of three years and four months.
This sentence follows his earlier guilty plea to multiple charges.
Turner was convicted of two counts of sexual activity involving a girl who was only 13 years old at the time.
In addition, he admitted to six counts of voyeurism concerning another young girl, who was just 11 and 12 years old during the offending period.
The court also heard that Turner had made nearly 4,000 indecent images of children.
These images were not locally produced but were instead sourced from the internet, and they were found on his two mobile phones at the time of his arrest last year.
As part of his sentencing, Turner is designated a registered sex offender for life, a status that obliges him to adhere to strict regulations and monitoring.
The court also imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), a legal measure intended to significantly limit his access to children and restrict his use of digital devices in order to prevent further crimes.
The investigation into Turner’s activities was initiated after concerns were raised by a family who contacted authorities last autumn.
Detective Constable Sean Stapley of the East Sussex Safeguarding Investigations Unit explained, 'Our investigation started when we were contacted by a family last autumn with concerns that their daughter had raised about Turner's behaviour.' He elaborated that Turner had systematically ingratiated himself with two separate families, gaining their trust to a deceptive degree, which ultimately enabled him to commit these offending acts.
Thanks to the cooperation and willingness of the victims’ families to provide evidence, law enforcement was able to uncover the full extent of Turner’s predatory conduct.
The authorities have now successfully brought him to justice and implemented protective measures to manage him upon his eventual release from custody.
The case highlights the importance of vigilance and community cooperation in safeguarding children against such offenders.
