CHETAN BALI'S HORRIFIC ANIMAL ABUSE IN SLOUGH REVEALED IN COURT

Chetan Bali, born in September 1992 and residing at 61 Lansdowne Avenue, Slough SL1 3SG, faced serious legal consequences after being found guilty of severe mistreatment of his pet dog and her puppies. The case drew attention to the appalling conditions in which Bali kept his animals, highlighting issues of animal cruelty and neglect in the Slough area.

According to court records, Bali owned a Japanese Akita dog named Kiki, along with her three puppies, Ziggy, Zoe, and Black Nose. Despite prior warnings, Bali subjected these animals to living conditions that were both dangerous and inhumane. The dogs were confined permanently in an outdoor pen that lacked basic necessities such as shelter, bedding, and access to fresh water. The environment was described as filthy, with faeces surrounding the animals, creating an unsanitary and hazardous setting.

In August 2014, authorities issued a legal notice to Bali, demanding that he improve the living conditions for Kiki and her puppies. However, despite this intervention, the situation worsened over the following months. On October 7, 2014, enforcement officers and police officers conducted a rescue operation after further inspections revealed that the animals' environment had deteriorated significantly. During the rescue, officers discovered nails and rusty metal scattered across the garden, posing a serious risk of injury or harm to the dogs.

Linda Corcoran, a housing and enforcement officer representing Slough Borough Council, described the conditions as extremely dangerous, stating, “for people, let alone dogs.” She emphasized that every dog has a fundamental right to a safe and healthy environment, which Bali’s backyard clearly failed to provide. The neglect was deemed so severe that immediate action was necessary to protect the animals.

Despite the evidence and the clear violations, Bali pleaded not guilty to the two animal welfare offences. Nevertheless, the court found him guilty, and all four dogs were subsequently rehomed to ensure their safety and well-being. The legal proceedings resulted in Bali receiving a 12-month community order for each offence, to be served concurrently. Additionally, he was ordered to pay £600 in costs and a £60 victim surcharge. As part of the court’s ruling, Bali was also banned from keeping any animals for ten years, a ban that will remain in effect until January 2026.

This case has brought to light the ongoing issue of animal cruelty in the Slough area, prompting calls for stricter enforcement and greater awareness to prevent similar incidents in the future. The case was reported by the Maidenhead Advertiser and the Slough & South Bucks Observer, highlighting the importance of community vigilance and animal welfare advocacy.
