CHARLES PEARSON FROM BIRMINGHAM AND TAMWORTH CAUGHT FILMING TEEN GIRL THROUGH WINDOW

In a disturbing case that has shocked the communities of Birmingham and Tamworth, Charles Pearson, a man with a troubling history of voyeurism, was convicted of a highly inappropriate and premeditated act involving the filming of a teenage girl through her bedroom window. The incident, described by the court as both "distasteful and disgusting," took place in Tamworth, where Pearson had deliberately taken photographs of the girl while she was vulnerable and unaware.

According to court proceedings, police investigations revealed that Pearson had also been involved in the possession of child pornography. During the investigation into the voyeurism complaint, authorities discovered numerous pornographic images of children stored on Pearson's computer. These images included a total of 17 indecent photographs of minors, along with one image classified as extreme pornography, which is now illegal under current laws.

The incident that led to Pearson's arrest occurred when the girl was sitting on her bed, naked after a shower, in her home in Tamworth. Her mother, hearing her daughter's screams, rushed to her room and initially thought she might be imagining things. However, it was later confirmed that the girl had seen a mobile phone pointed at her through a windowpane, indicating that she was being secretly filmed. The mother promptly contacted the police, who responded swiftly to the scene.

During police interviews, Pearson admitted to taking photographs not only of the girl but also of a teenage boy. He claimed to have taken these images approximately 20 to 30 times but had deleted the photographs from his phone to avoid detection. At the time of his arrest, Pearson was residing on Yardley Road in the Acocks Green area of Birmingham.

Charles Pearson, aged 41, faced multiple charges, including voyeurism, making indecent images of children, and possessing extreme pornography. He pleaded guilty to these charges and was subsequently sentenced to a three-year community order. As part of his sentence, he is required to undergo sex offenders' treatment, register as a sex offender, and is indefinitely banned from working with children. Furthermore, Pearson is prohibited from possessing any photographic devices that could be used to record or photograph minors.

Judge Paul Glenn, presiding over the case at Stafford Crown Court, emphasized the severity of Pearson's actions. He stated, "The voyeurism offences are the most serious. They were plainly premeditated, distasteful, and disgusting. You accept the sexual attraction you have to children, and had these matters not been detected, this may have gone further." The judge also noted that a custodial sentence would likely result in Pearson being released within a few weeks without receiving any treatment, which would not serve the public's best interest. Instead, he concluded that a long-term order focusing on public protection was the appropriate course of action.

Prosecutor Pat Sullivan highlighted the extent of Pearson's misconduct, revealing that his computer contained a total of 17 indecent images of children, along with the aforementioned extreme pornography. Defense attorney Peter Cooke acknowledged the damage caused by Pearson's actions, stating that the defendant had lost his job and marriage as a consequence. Cooke also expressed that Pearson was deeply ashamed and had no desire to own a camera again, indicating remorse for his crimes.
