HORRIFIC TORTURE OF TWO WOMEN IN BIRMINGHAM: MOHAMMED KASIM KHAN AND IMAAN COLEY SENTENCED

A disturbing case of prolonged abuse and torture has culminated in the imprisonment of two individuals responsible for heinous acts against two women in Birmingham. Mohammed Kasim Khan, aged 24, and Imaan Coley, 37, formerly known as Rochelle, faced justice at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday, 17 March, after a series of brutal crimes that shocked the local community and drew widespread condemnation.

According to court reports, Coley was responsible for holding one of the victims captive within a property located in Birmingham. During her captivity, the woman was subjected to extreme cruelty, including physical assaults and psychological torment. One of the most shocking acts was forcing her to drink bleach, a toxic substance that caused severe internal damage. Additionally, she was subjected to the horrifying experience of having her hair set on fire, leaving her with lasting scars and trauma. After enduring months of suffering, the victim managed to escape her captor and sought medical assistance, which subsequently prompted police intervention and a thorough investigation into the case.

As authorities delved deeper into the investigation, they uncovered a second victim who had also been subjected to unimaginable abuse. This woman endured a five-hour ordeal at the hands of Coley and Khan, during which she was forced to drink bleach, eat cat food, and was even urinated on. The assault left her with a broken eye socket, a testament to the brutality inflicted upon her. The investigation revealed a pattern of violent and dehumanizing treatment meted out by the accused, highlighting the severity of their crimes.

Following an extensive and meticulous investigation, law enforcement officials successfully tracked down the perpetrators. Coley, who was found to have no fixed address, was arrested and subsequently convicted on multiple charges. She pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent, administering a toxic substance, actual bodily harm, and false imprisonment. She also admitted to burglary and an additional charge of assault causing actual bodily harm. Coley was sentenced to 18 years in prison for her role in these crimes.

Meanwhile, Khan, who was initially at large, became the subject of a widespread public appeal through social media, the police website, and Crimestoppers. His image and details were circulated widely in an effort to locate him. Ultimately, the 24-year-old surrendered himself to authorities. Khan, of Barrows Road in Birmingham, pleaded guilty to charges including grievous bodily harm with intent, two counts of administering poison with intent to endanger life, and burglary. He was sentenced to 15 years behind bars.

Detective Constable Victoria McNulty, a member of the Exploitation Team, expressed her thoughts on the case, stating, “This was a case of truly horrific physical and psychological abuse inflicted on two vulnerable women over an extended period. What they endured was utterly inhumane and dehumanizing. Both victims suffered severe physical and emotional trauma, and they continue to rebuild their lives with lots of support. I am in awe of their bravery and strength throughout this process. I hope knowing that these violent individuals are now behind bars for many years brings them some sense of justice and allows them to begin healing.”
