October 2021 Luton paedophile Carson Grimes jailed for life One of Bedfordshire most prolific paedophiles who featured on 24 Hours in Police Custody was sentenced today Judge Lynn Tanton QC sentenced 65-year-old Carson Grimes to life in prison, with a minimum term of 22 years. Grimes targeted vulnerable Luton children and was charged with a flurry of offenses. His victims, who were aged between five and 15 years old at the time of his crimes, were given drugs and alcohol by Grimes. Following the abuse, the victims were threatened with violence to them or their families if they spoke out. His trial heard that he began abusing children in the 1980s when he lived in London, and his behaviour escalated when he moved to Bedfordshire and continued until about 2002. Grimes was found guilty on July 16, 2020 for the following crimes: 11 counts of rape 8 counts of buggery, An offence which wad re-classified as rape in 1994 11 counts of indecent assault 6 counts of indecency with a child. In the courtroom, victims of Grimes cheered when his sentence was announced. Judge Tanton was forced to remind them to be quiet. July 2021 Prolific paedophile convicted of raping and sexually abusing vulnerable children A paedophile who preyed on vulnerable children as young as five years old over a 20 year period, grooming them and then sexually abusing them, has been convicted of rape, indecent assault and indecency with children. Carson Grimes (also known as Carson Phillips) from Luton was found guilty of 42 sexual offences against 12 children. The court was told that he gained his victims’ trust by providing them with what they wanted – which sometimes included paid work – so that they would visit him regularly. He spiked their drinks with sedatives on some occasions before attacking them, and would threaten violence against them and their families to ensure they would not speak out. Carson Grimes, 65, targeted both male and female children aged between 5 and 15 from disadvantaged backgrounds, often luring them to his home in Luton with free drugs and alcohol, before abusing them. The jury at Luton Crown Court heard first-hand statements from nine victims and several witnesses about the attacks, which took place between 1982 and 2002. Though Grimes denied all the charges, he was found guilty on 16 July of: 11 counts of child rape; 8 counts of buggery, an offence which was re-classified as rape in 1994; 11 counts of indecent assault against a child 6 counts of indecency with a child. Many were of the children were vulnerable and from dysfunctional homes who he had found sniffing glue, smoking cannabis and getting into trouble with the police. Grimes plied them with drink and drugs before subjecting them to horrific sexual abuse and rape.
