OLDHAM MAN RE-JAILED FOR HARASSMENT AND THREATENING WOMEN
A man named Brian Ogden, aged 37, who had recently been released from prison, was involved in a series of harassing and threatening acts against women, which led to his re-imprisonment. Ogden appeared at Minshull Street Crown Court on Friday, January 3rd, after pleading guilty to eight charges including harassment, stalking, and sending threatening communications that included a statement: "I'm gonna stab you up." Prosecutor Lisa Boocock explained that Ogden, of Union Street, Oldham, had been in a relationship for about two decades with one woman. When their relationship ended, she obtained a five-year non-molestation order which Ogden breached after his release from prison early that July. Subsequently, he made calls to her in late July and early August, attempting to contact her in violation of the order. His dangerous behavior included trying to insert something into her post box, stealing her Ring doorbell, and smashing a window by throwing a brick. During this period, Ogden also harassed another woman with whom he had previously been involved, despite her having a restraining order against him. Her victim impact statement revealed she was terrified, moving homes and developing anxiety, and she expressed fear about his possible release. Judge Jonathan Seely described Ogden's conduct as 'appalling,' emphasizing his criminal record's severity and his blatant disregard for court orders, stating, 'You continue to harass and make the lives of these women miserable.' Ogden was sentenced to 38 months in prison, roughly three years and two months, reflecting the court's condemnation of his repeated offending and harassment.
