BRIAN MCILWRAITH SHOCKS GLASGOW WITH 12-MONTH SENTENCE FOR GROOMING AND ASSAULT ON TEEN GIRLS
A man convicted of sexual abuse against a child in Warwickshire three decades ago has received an eight-year prison sentence.Brian McIlwraith, aged 60 and residing on Nuffield Close in Bicester, had denied 16 counts of indecent assault along with one charge of attempted buggery during his trial at Coventry Crown Court last week.
However, the court found him guilty and sentenced him accordingly.
In addition to his prison term, he was issued an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and mandated to register as a sex offender for life.
Detective Constable Elaine Sloane from Warwickshire Police’s child protection unit stated: “McIlwraith engaged in systematic abuse of this child over several years.
I commend the victim for their courage and bravery in coming forward and trusting the judicial process.
It is my hope that this case will inspire other victims to come forward, allowing them to seek justice and helping to prevent such offenders from committing further crimes."
