BRADLEY DAVIS FROM BASILDON CAUGHT IN SHOCKING ONLINE CHILD SEXUAL PLOT
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Basildon, a man named Bradley Davis was involved in a serious online incident involving threats of sexual abuse against a minor. The incident unfolded in October 2021 when Davis was confronted by a vigilant group near his residence in The Gore, Basildon.
The group, operating as a hunter unit, had been monitoring online activity and managed to identify Davis during a live stream, where he was seen making alarming threats.
During the confrontation, Davis, aged 30, claimed that the profiles he had been communicating with, which included decoys posing as underage girls, were part of an effort to expose online predators.
He insisted that he knew the individuals he was speaking to were not real minors, but the authorities and prosecutors did not accept this explanation.
Following the incident, police swiftly arrested Davis on October 7.
He faced multiple serious charges, including four counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and four counts of attempting to incite a child into sexual activity, with some charges involving penetration and others not.
The case was brought before Basildon Crown Court, where Davis was formally sentenced on the following Monday.
Prosecutor Mark Hunsley provided details of the case, revealing that the messages exchanged with the decoy profiles, which pretended to be girls under 16, spanned over a period of seven days.
The conversations were described as highly explicit and sexual in nature.
Hunsley highlighted a particularly disturbing exchange where Davis told the decoy that he would tie her up with rope and continue with his threats.
Hunsley emphasized that Davis attempted to justify his actions by claiming he knew the profiles were fake, but this was not accepted by the court.
During the investigation, Davis was confronted with the evidence and was told that he needed professional help.
The prosecutor also noted that Davis explicitly discussed staying in a hotel with the decoy and continued to pursue the conversation despite the decoy expressing distress, including crying.
In explicit terms, Davis discussed doing things as hard as he liked and even getting her pregnant.
The court, presided over by Recorder Claire Davies, sentenced Davis to a three-year community order.
The sentence also included 90 days of rehabilitation and a notification requirement lasting five years, reflecting the seriousness of his actions and the need for ongoing monitoring.
