PRISON SENTENCE FOR MAN WHO SHARED CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AND BROKE COURT ORDER EIGHT TIMES
Barry Sefton, aged 61, who has no fixed address, received a longer prison term from a judge at Bolton Crown Court, consisting of three years and four months behind bars along with a five-year licence period.Sefton pleaded guilty to three counts of sharing indecent images and videos involving minors.
Specifically, he uploaded 34 videos classified as Category A the most serious along with three Category B and four Category C videos on January 29, 2023.
On February 5, 2023, he shared two Category A videos, one Category A image, one Category B image, three images, and two videos in Category C.
Then, on March 1, 2023, he posted two Category A videos, two Category B images, and one Category C image.
In addition, Sefton admitted to eight breaches of a sexual harm prevention order, which had been issued at Bolton Crown Court on March 18, 2019.
His activity included using or possessing a computer from November 2, 2022, to April 14, 2023; engaging in online chats about the sexual abuse of children from December 18, 2022, to January 29, 2023, and again from February 2, 2023, to April 5, 2023.
He also used cloud storage or other remote media services on January 29, March 1, and between February 5 and March 18, 2023.
Furthermore, he disposed of an internet-enabled device on April 14, 2023, and participated in online conversations about child sexual abuse between February 23 and March 2, 2023.
The court sentenced him to an additional eight months for violating the breaches and mandated that he perform notification duties indefinitely.
