LEEDS MAN GUILTY OF GROPING WOMEN AT RAILWAY STATION
A man identified as Anthony Vass has pleaded guilty to two charges of sexual assault after grabbing the bottoms of two female strangers at Leeds Railway Station. The incident occurred on May 19 of the previous year, while the women were waiting for taxis outside the station on New Station Street.
Vass, aged 46, was observed to have assaulted the first woman by grabbing her bottom, and shortly thereafter, did the same to a second woman who confronted him.
Prosecutor Richard Blackburn stated: "If he hadn't touched the second complainant the matter might not have come to court.
It was only when it happened with the second female that the first complainant alerted police to what happened moments before." Vass's solicitor described the incident as a "touch over clothing, a momentary touch," and considered it a "very fleeting offence." Vass, who resides on Tilbury Road in Holbeck, was previously convicted of supplying drugs and indecent assault in 1999.
Magistrates ordered an all options probation report before sentencing him scheduled for February 18, with Vass granted unconditional bail until then.
