FATHER ADMITS FILMING WOMEN AT NIGHT THROUGH THEIR WINDOWS
A man with two children, who secretly recorded women through the windows of their homes during nighttime hours, has admitted to multiple charges of voyeurism.Authorities are now urging dozens of potential victims to come forward.
Anthony Durkan, aged 36 and residing in Islington, North London, pleaded guilty to 19 counts of voyeurism at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
All of these offences took place last year, except for one incident on January 12, 2020.
Additionally, he admitted guilt to seven more voyeurism charges on March 26 at the same court, bringing the total number of offences to 26.
Prosecutor Edward Kalber stated that Durkan, who is a father of two, “poses a significant threat to women and girls within our communities.” He explained to the court: “He was secretly filming women inside their private homes while they were in various states of undress.” The Metropolitan Police revealed they are working to identify further victims after discovering a hidden collection of hundreds of images and videos of women on Durkan’s mobile phone.
The police have issued a plea to women in north London who may have noticed unusual activity around their homes, especially late at night or early in the morning, between January 2020 and March 2026.
Officers said a woman reported in January 2026 that an unknown man repeatedly visited her home in Islington and filmed through her windows during the early hours.
She was alerted by a neighbor who saw a man dressed entirely in black, wearing a balaclava, approach her property.
The man was observed holding his phone up to the windows, seemingly recording inside, before walking away.
These incidents were captured on the neighbor’s doorbell camera.
In March 2026, police responded to another report from a woman in Islington, who had also seen a man recording her through her window.
She confronted him, causing him to flee immediately.
This incident was also recorded on a security camera.
On March 25, a plainclothes officer saw a man approach a residence and behave in the same manner.
The officer arrested him shortly afterward outside the property and identified him as Durkan.
A search of Durkan’s home uncovered a hidden gallery on his phone containing hundreds of images and videos of women.
Authorities stated there is no evidence that any of the women knew they were being recorded.
Officers also seized five additional mobile devices and a small camera from Durkan’s residence for further investigation.
Dressed in a white jacket and jeans, Durkan entered his guilty pleas on Tuesday afternoon.
He was released on conditional bail and will face sentencing at Snaresbrook Crown Court at a later date.
Detective Chief Inspector Gemma Alger, who led the investigation, commented: “Durkan’s actions represented a serious and ongoing pattern of predatory behaviour, deliberately targeting women who were completely unaware they were being filmed, without their consent, in the privacy of their own homes.
“I want to thank the women who had the courage to come forward and report these crimes.
Their bravery, along with witness statements and swift police work, enabled us to act quickly and arrest Durkan during a proactive patrol.
“This conviction underscores the seriousness of these crimes and ensures that a dangerous individual has been brought to justice, preventing further harm to women.”
