AMADU TAVARES FROM PETERBOROUGH BANNED FOR 5 YEARS AS HIGH-RISK PREDATOR TARGETING TEENAGE GIRLS

A 23-year-old man named Amadu Tavares, who is known to have connections with Peterborough, has been officially classified as a significant threat to teenage girls in the area. This classification led to the imposition of a stringent court order designed to restrict his actions and prevent any potential harm over the next five years.

On Thursday, April 24, at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court, the court issued a Sexual Risk Order (SRO) against Tavares. This type of order is a civil measure, typically sought by police authorities, aimed at individuals who have not been convicted or cautioned for any criminal offense but are nonetheless considered to pose a risk of harm to minors or the public. The decision to impose such an order underscores the seriousness with which authorities view Tavares’s potential threat.

The conditions attached to the SRO are comprehensive and designed to limit Tavares’s interactions with minors. He is legally required to avoid any contact with girls under the age of 18. Furthermore, he must not be present at any location where minors reside for more than 12 hours in a single day unless he is under direct supervision. The order also prohibits him from loitering near areas where minors are known to be present, thereby reducing opportunities for any inappropriate encounters.

In addition to these restrictions, Tavares is mandated to disclose all his social media accounts to authorities and must allow police to examine any devices capable of internet access. This measure aims to monitor and prevent any online activity that could facilitate harm or exploitation.

Police spokesperson PC Adriana Leaver Hernandez described Tavares as a high-risk individual who exploits vulnerabilities among young girls. She pointed out that Tavares has been known to use alcohol and drugs as tools to target and manipulate teenage girls, which heightens the concern for their safety. Hernandez emphasized that the primary goal of the court order is to prevent any further sexual harm and to protect women and girls from potential exploitation.

Authorities continue to urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicions related to child exploitation. The police’s proactive approach aims to safeguard vulnerable minors and ensure that individuals like Tavares are kept away from situations where they could cause harm.
