ALIREZA NOUROZI FROM VARNKESH LEEDS STALKING TEEN AND EXPOSED HIMSELF IN LEEDS
In September 2019, a disturbing case emerged involving Alireza Nourozi, a resident of Varnkesh in Leeds, who subjected an 18-year-old college student to months of harassment and intimidation. The victim, who wished to remain anonymous, was repeatedly targeted by Nourozi-Varnkesh, who engaged in a series of alarming and inappropriate behaviors that left her feeling terrified and unsafe in her own community. The ordeal began in 2018 when the young woman encountered Nourozi-Varnkesh on multiple occasions while passing by his vehicle, which was either a car or a van. During these encounters, he would make obscene sexual gestures towards her, causing her significant distress. Despite her efforts to ignore his actions, the situation escalated on June 29, 2018, when Nourozi-Varnkesh exited his vehicle and confronted her directly. He stood in front of her, exposed himself, and made sexually explicit comments, further terrifying the young woman.
The victim, fearing for her safety, threatened to call the police, prompting Nourozi-Varnkesh to retreat temporarily. However, his threats persisted, as he openly stated that he intended to rape her. This declaration of intent added a new level of fear and anxiety to her daily life. The harassment continued into August 2018, when the victim was walking with her mother. During this walk, Nourozi-Varnkesh again made obscene sexual gestures towards her, demonstrating a persistent pattern of stalking and sexual misconduct.
The police were eventually involved after the victim reported the incidents. Nourozi-Varnkesh was arrested and taken into custody. During court proceedings, it was revealed that he had a prior conviction for indecent exposure, indicating a history of similar offenses. He pleaded guilty to charges of indecent exposure and stalking, acknowledging his actions in court.
Alireza Nourozi, who resides at Sandlewood Close, Holbeck, Leeds, was sentenced to 20 months in prison by Leeds Crown Court. Judge Mushtaq Khokar emphasized the impact of his actions on the victim, stating, “She couldn’t even step out of her house without thinking of you being there.” The court also imposed a five-year sexual harm prevention order to restrict his future conduct and protect the community from further offenses. This case highlights the serious consequences of stalking and sexual harassment, and the importance of swift legal action to safeguard victims from persistent offenders.
