ALI TOK FROM SYDENHAM AND HITHER GREEN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON 11-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In November 2013, a disturbing case unfolded involving Ali Tok, a 50-year-old man residing in Allwood Close, Sydenham, who was employed at a kebab shop located in Hither Green. The incident centered around a heinous sexual assault committed against an 11-year-old girl while she was waiting for her food order at the establishment.According to court proceedings, Tok was working behind the counter at the Leahurst Road kebab shop when the young girl visited. On February 7, he allegedly invited her to sit in the back of the store, an act that raised serious concerns about his intentions. During this interaction, Tok reportedly told the girl that he loved her before subjecting her to a sexual assault. The court heard that this traumatic event left the young victim visibly frightened and in tears, highlighting the severity of the incident.
Tok, who denied the charges, attempted to justify his actions during a police interview by claiming that the girl had dropped her food, and his face had inadvertently brushed hers while he was helping her pick it up. Despite his denial, evidence and testimonies led to his arrest at the shop after the girl returned home and confided in her mother about what had transpired. Her mother promptly contacted the police, leading to Tok’s detention.
Detective Inspector Jim Pryde, a representative from the Metropolitan Police’s sexual offences, exploitation, and child abuse command, expressed his thoughts on the case, stating, “The young victim has been extremely brave, and there is no doubt this assault has shaken her confidence and trust in people. With the support of specially trained officers, she has seen her attacker convicted, and this sends out a strong message to anyone who sexually abuses children that they will be pursued and brought to justice.”
Following a trial at Woolwich Crown Court, a jury found Ali Tok guilty of sexual touching of a child under 13 on November 7. The court scheduled his sentencing for November 29, where he faces a potential prison term for his actions. This case underscores the importance of vigilance and justice in protecting vulnerable children from sexual predators, and it serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat such crimes in the London boroughs of Hither Green and Sydenham.
