ADAM HESLOP FROM NEWMARKET SENTENCED TO 17 YEARS FOR HORRIFIC SEXUAL ABUSE OF YOUNG GIRL

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Newmarket, Adam Heslop, a man residing on Isinglass Close, was sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of multiple heinous crimes involving a young girl. The incident, which came to light in late 2016, involved Heslop attempting to conceal his disturbing actions by telling the victim that her family would believe she was lying, a tactic often used by offenders to silence their victims and avoid detection.

Heslop was arrested on Halloween in 2016, following the brave disclosure of the young girl to her mother. The girl revealed that Heslop had asked her to keep a secret, which raised suspicions in her mother’s mind and prompted further investigation. The case quickly gained attention as authorities uncovered the extent of Heslop’s alleged misconduct.

By December of the following year, Heslop had pleaded guilty to a series of serious charges. These included two counts of sexual assault by penetration of a girl under the age of 13, two counts of sexual assault of a girl under 13, and a charge of rape involving the same young victim. Additionally, he admitted to specimen counts of assault by penetration and sexual assault, each involving at least two separate occasions, highlighting a pattern of predatory behavior.

During the sentencing hearing, the court heard the full details of Heslop’s crimes. The judge sentenced him to 17 years in prison for the rape charge, with concurrent terms of 12 years each for the two counts of sexual assault by penetration and the associated specimen count. For the other charges of sexual assault and specimen counts, Heslop received five-year sentences, also to run concurrently. The combined sentence reflects the gravity of his offenses and the impact on the young victim.

Furthermore, Heslop was subjected to an indefinite restraining order, preventing any contact with the victim or her family, and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), designed to restrict his future behavior and protect the community from potential harm.
