ADAM BAKER FROM SOUTHAMPTON JAILED FOR FAILING TO REGISTER AS HOMELESS SEX OFFENDER

In November 2019, Adam Baker, a known sex offender residing in Southampton, was sentenced to prison after failing to adhere to his legal obligations to notify authorities of his living situation.

Baker, who was required by law to inform police of his address status, did not register as being of no fixed abode by the designated deadline, leading to his arrest and subsequent court appearance.

At Southampton Magistrates’ Court, the 30-year-old defendant pleaded guilty to the charge of failing to comply with his notification requirements.

During the proceedings, Baker also admitted that he committed this offence while he was under the terms of a previously imposed suspended sentence, which added severity to his case.

The magistrates sentenced Baker to two weeks in jail for the breach.

Additionally, they activated his 20-week suspended sentence, resulting in a total custodial period of 22 weeks.

As part of the court’s order, Baker was also required to pay a victim surcharge of £122, which is a standard penalty intended to support victims of crime.

This case highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement and judicial authorities in Southampton to ensure that sex offenders comply with their legal obligations, especially those related to their residence and contact details, to protect the community and prevent further offences.
