ZAMURRAD KHAN BRADFORD MAN JAILED FOR HISTORIC SEX OFFENCES INVOLVING BOY IN LITTLE HORTON
In a case that has shocked the community of Bradford, Zamurrad Khan, a 57-year-old man residing in St Luke’s Close, Little Horton, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of multiple historic sexual offences committed against a young boy.The offences, which date back to the 1970s and 1980s, were brought to light during a court trial that revealed disturbing details about Khan’s actions and the impact they have had on the victim’s life.
According to court records, Khan was convicted of two serious sexual offences and one count of indecency with a child.
He was acquitted of a third serious sexual offence.
The court heard that Khan, who previously served as a community councillor involved in the Bradford Trident regeneration scheme, had concealed his abusive past for many years.
His actions, which spanned several decades, only came to light during the recent proceedings.
Judge Sophie Drake presided over the case at Bradford Crown Court and sentenced Khan to 17 years in prison, with an additional year on licence, emphasizing the severity of his crimes.
The judge remarked on Khan’s deliberate concealment of his offending, noting that he had kept his dark secret hidden for a long period.
The court was told that the abuse began when the victim was approximately 10 or 11 years old.
Khan, who had positioned himself as a religious figure, approached the boy’s parents with a request to take their son to the mosque, ostensibly for religious instruction.
However, this was part of Khan’s grooming process, as he manipulated the young boy in secluded areas, gradually escalating to more serious acts of abuse.
Recorder Sophie Drake highlighted the profound and lasting impact of Khan’s actions on the victim.
She stated, “It is clear your abuse of him has had a significant adverse impact on his life.
He feels cheated out of his teenage years.” The court’s decision underscores the gravity of the offences and the importance of holding offenders accountable, regardless of how much time has passed since the crimes occurred.
