WILLIAM CARTER SENTENCED TO SIX YEARS IN PRISON FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN WREXHAM
A 70-year-old resident of Wrexham is set to serve a lengthy prison sentence of six years after he pleaded guilty to multiple serious charges related to child sexual offences.William Carter, whose address is listed as Ffordd Estyn, Wrexham, appeared before Mold Crown Court on a recent Wednesday for the purpose of sentencing.
Carter had previously confessed to committing eight separate instances of sexually touching a child, a revelation that sparked widespread concern and highlighted the gravity of his misconduct.
During the court proceedings, his legal representative, Henry Hills, acknowledged the extent of Carter’s remorse by stating, "He understands his behaviour has caused significant harm to the victim." This comment implicitly recognizes the seriousness of the offences and the impact on the victim involved.
The judge presiding over the case, Rhys Rowlands, did not hold back in condemning Carter's actions.
He described Carter’s conduct as being characterized by repeated, egregious, and perverted behaviour that was utterly unacceptable.
The judge emphasized the troubling nature of the offences, indicating that Carter’s behaviour was not only morally wrong but also indicative of a troubling lack of insight into the harm he had inflicted.
In his remarks, Judge Rowlands pointed out that Carter’s inability or unwillingness to fully comprehend the damage caused underscored the severity of the case.
The court proceedings also included the imposition of further legal measures to prevent future harm.
A Sexual Harm Prevention Order was issued as part of the sentence, which aims to restrict Carter’s activities and reduce the risk to the public.
Furthermore, Carter was mandated to register as a sex offender, a legal requirement intended to ensure ongoing monitoring and public safety.
This case underscores the importance of safeguarding measures for vulnerable children and highlights the ongoing judicial efforts to hold offenders accountable for such serious crimes in the Wrexham area.
