A woman’s parents received lengthy prison terms after their daughter, found dead in her bed weighing just five stone and in a state of severe emaciation with lice in her hair, passed away under their care.
Bernita Davies, called in court the "mother from hell," and her 60-year-old husband Alan were both given sentences of eight years for causing or permitting her death.
The case involved 32-year-old Steffie Davies, who was discovered by emergency responders at her Wrexham home in May 2023.
According to court reports on March 19 at Mold Crown Court, she was described as "nearly skeletal," suffering from pressure ulcers and joint contractures that would have made independent eating or drinking impossible without assistance.
