WILLIAM BROWN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE AT BOLTON PRIMARY SCHOOL
In November 2019, a disturbing case emerged involving William Brown, a primary school teacher from Bolton, who was convicted of multiple serious sexual offenses against young girls.Brown, aged 68 and residing on Parkway in Bolton, pleaded guilty to a total of 15 charges, including 12 counts of sexual assault by touching a girl under the age of 13, one count of taking an indecent photograph or pseudo-photograph of a child, and two additional counts of making such indecent images.
These offenses were committed against three different victims, all of whom were under 13 years old.
Brown’s sentencing took place at Manchester Crown Court located in Crown Square.
The court sentenced him to six years in prison, with a minimum of three years to be served behind bars.
In addition to his imprisonment, Brown will be required to register as a sex offender indefinitely and will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order that will remain in effect for 15 years.
These measures are designed to monitor and restrict his activities following his release, aiming to protect the community from further harm.
Superintendent Rebecca Boyce, representing Greater Manchester Police’s City of Manchester division, expressed her thoughts on the case, stating, “First and foremost, our thoughts and gratitude remain with the young victims and their families who have conducted themselves with the utmost dignity and bravery whilst we have conducted this investigation.
I hope today’s sentence – and the fact Brown will now spend time behind bars – provides a measure of comfort and helps them to get on with the rest of their lives.” Details of the case reveal that in July 2019, William Brown was working as an agency staff member at a primary school in Manchester.
During this period, a staff member observed Brown acting suspiciously around a group of pupils and noted inappropriate touching of one of the children.
Concerned about these behaviors, the staff member reported the incident to the school’s safeguarding lead, prompting immediate action and the involvement of Greater Manchester Police.
Brown was swiftly arrested at the school premises and taken into custody for questioning.
During police interviews, he denied any involvement in the offenses.
Authorities then conducted a search of his residence, seizing his phone and laptop as evidence.
Forensic analysis of these devices uncovered a number of indecent images and videos, which depicted Brown abusing three pupils from the school where he was employed.
Further investigations confirmed that the abuse occurred on school grounds and included twelve separate sexual assaults against the victims.
Superintendent Boyce emphasized the gravity of the case, stating, “This was a particularly harrowing case, and I would like to thank the team of dedicated officers who have been absolutely committed to bringing Brown to justice.
I also want to extend my thanks to the professionals from the local authority and staff from the school who supported our investigation from the very beginning.
Brown will now spend the coming years reflecting on his depraved actions, and I hope this case sends a clear message across Greater Manchester that we are committed to safeguarding our young people and will pursue justice relentlessly.”
