WILLIAM BEECH SHOCKING SEX OFFENDER ACTIVITIES IN CUMBRIA AND WHITEHAVEN
A man from West Cumbria, William Beech, has been ordered to register as a sex offender with immediate effect after admitting to a series of serious crimes involving a child he believed was only 13 years old.The details emerged during a brief court hearing at Carlisle Crown Court, where Beech, aged 51, faced a total of 13 criminal charges.
During the proceedings, he pleaded guilty to 12 of these charges.
The nature of Beech's offences is particularly disturbing.
Three of the charges relate to attempts to entice a child into sexual activity, demonstrating a disturbing predatory intent.
Additionally, four charges involve attempts to engage in sexual acts in the presence of a child, raising concerns about the proximity and potential impact on the young victim.
Furthermore, three charges involve attempts to coerce a child into watching sexual acts, indicating an attempt to exploit the child's curiosity or innocence for sexual gratification.
There was also an allegation of attempting to communicate sexually with a child, along with a charge of making indecent images classified as Category C photographs of a child.
The crimes reportedly took place over several days around November of last year, with investigations revealing that Beech was communicating with a vigilante group posing as a 13-year-old girl.
The case points to a disturbing pattern of online predatory behavior and attempted exploitation.
Judge Nicholas Barker presided over the case and ordered an adjournment for a pre-sentencing report prepared by the probation service, which will provide further background into Beech's history and the details surrounding his offending.
The sentencing has been scheduled for February 4 at Carlisle Crown Court.
Until then, Beech is required to sign the sex offenders register as mandated by law, with the exact length of that requirement to be determined during sentencing.
In the meantime, Beech has been granted bail under specific conditions.
He is to reside at Hilton Terrace in Whitehaven and is prohibited from having any unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18.
These measures are intended to ensure public safety while legal proceedings continue to unfold.
