BIRMINGHAM SEX OFFENDER WILLBERT MUKORI TARGETS WOMEN IN HORRIFIC ASSAULTS
In June 2023, a disturbing series of sexual assaults took place in Birmingham, involving a man named Willbert Mukori, whose actions have shocked the local community and prompted a police investigation.Mukori, a resident of Elswick Grove, Kingstanding, engaged in a pattern of predatory behavior that targeted lone women, many of whom appeared to be young and dressed in athletic clothing.
His crimes were characterized by a methodical and premeditated approach, with police describing his actions as driven by a disturbing sexual perversion.
According to authorities, Mukori would approach women in public spaces during daylight hours, often following them before executing his assault.
His preferred method involved spraying fake semen, which he produced using a bottle of burger sauce, onto the women’s bodies—specifically targeting their buttocks.
In some instances, he used his own semen, adding a more sinister element to his crimes.
The victims, some of whom were students, were left feeling humiliated, frightened, and in at least one case, fearing for their safety from potential rape.
The court heard that two of these students felt so traumatized by their experiences that they felt compelled to leave Birmingham altogether.
Police investigations revealed that Mukori’s criminal activity was not limited to a single incident.
He had previously admitted to committing 16 sexual assaults across different locations, including 13 in Birmingham’s Lancaster Circus, two in Selly Oak, and one in Chesterfield, spanning over a period of seven years.
His criminal history was further linked to an earlier offense in Derbyshire in 2016, where DNA evidence confirmed his involvement.
During that incident, he decanted and used his own semen, establishing a disturbing pattern that he continued to exploit in subsequent years.
Between 2021 and 2022, Mukori resumed his offending behavior in Birmingham, creating a replica of semen to target women in public.
Prosecutor Dominic Wallis described how one victim was so frightened she believed she was about to be raped as she realized she was being stalked.
The court heard that Mukori would often pretend to scratch his ankle or tie his shoe when women noticed him following them, indicating a calculated effort to avoid detection while continuing his predatory acts.
The police and court described his behavior as indicative of a very disturbing sexual perversion.
During the sentencing hearing, Mukori’s defense lawyer, Graham Henson, acknowledged that his client, a former carer, clearly needed help.
However, Judge Paul Farrer KC did not hold back in condemning Mukori’s actions.
The judge emphasized that many of the victims suffered significant and lasting harm, and that Mukori’s crimes were driven by a need to achieve sexual gratification through these heinous acts.
The judge described Mukori as a “predatory sex offender” who targeted vulnerable women, often in isolation, and noted that his behavior was deeply entrenched.
As a result of his conviction, Mukori was sentenced to four and a half years in prison.
Additionally, he was ordered to be placed on the sex offenders register for life, with a four-year extension of his license period.
A sexual harm prevention order was also imposed to restrict his future activities.
The court commended West Midlands Police for their diligent work in unraveling the complex investigation, which uncovered evidence suggesting Mukori may have committed more offenses.
Authorities have urged any additional victims to come forward, and a public portal has been established to facilitate reporting of similar crimes, underscoring the ongoing concern and the need for community vigilance.
