WAYNE BATEMAN FROM DARLASTON, WALSALL, AND WILLENHALL SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES AND ASSAULTS IN WOLVERHAMPTON AND RUSHDEN

In a series of serious criminal incidents spanning several years, Wayne Bateman, a man with ties to Darlaston, Walsall, and Willenhall, has been brought to justice for multiple offenses involving sexual misconduct and violence. His criminal history includes a disturbing pattern of abuse and assault that has shocked the local communities and prompted legal action.

Back in April 2013, Bateman, then aged 36, faced a court in Wolverhampton where he pleaded guilty to charges of sexual activity with a female minor and assault causing actual bodily harm. The court heard that Bateman, who was unemployed and described as an alcoholic with a history of drug use, had sexually abused a young girl over a period of 18 months. The victim was only 13 and 14 years old at the time of the abuse. In addition to the sexual offenses, Bateman admitted to physically assaulting a 21-year-old woman. His violent tendencies and past relationship issues with women were highlighted during the proceedings.

As a result of his guilty pleas, Bateman was sentenced to three years in prison. The court also ordered him to be placed on the sex offenders register for ten years and disqualified him from working with children for life, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the danger he posed to the community.

Following his incarceration, Bateman was released on June 6, 2014, after serving just 14 months of his three-year sentence. Upon release, he moved into a bail hostel in the Northampton area, where he was monitored as part of his release conditions.

However, Bateman's criminal activities did not end there. In July 2016, he was involved in further legal issues in Rushden. On May 12, 2016, in Rushden, he was found to be a relevant offender under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, for failing to notify a new address or an address where he had stayed for seven days or longer, without a reasonable excuse. This breach of notification requirements was a serious violation of his legal obligations.

Just a couple of weeks later, on May 26, 2016, Bateman was involved in an assault on a man on Windsor Road in Rushden. The details of this assault were part of the ongoing criminal proceedings against him.

In response to his latest offenses, Bateman pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a four-month curfew with electronic monitoring, effective from July 4, 2016, to November 3, 2016. During this period, he was required to remain at his home address between 8 pm and 6 am. Additionally, he was ordered to pay a surcharge of £85 to fund victim services, along with costs of £85 and £75 in compensation.
