WARREN TAYLOR REMOVED FROM GRIMSBY'S NUNSTHORPE ESTATE AFTER PAEDOPHILE CONVICTION

In June 2009, residents of the Nunsthorpe estate in Grimsby were rocked by a disturbing incident involving Warren Taylor, a local resident with a criminal record for sexual offenses. The situation escalated when news spread that Taylor had been convicted of engaging in sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl, an offense that took place on March 29. Following his admission of guilt, Taylor was sentenced at Grimsby Crown Court to a three-year supervision order and was mandated to participate in a sex offender treatment programme.

Upon hearing about Taylor’s conviction, a large group of residents gathered along Cabourne Road, where his residence is located. The crowd, estimated to number up to 30 individuals, expressed their outrage by hurling verbal abuse at Taylor and demanding that he leave the estate. The atmosphere grew tense as the community’s anger was palpable, with many residents feeling betrayed and concerned about the safety of their neighborhood.

Humberside Police responded swiftly to the escalating situation. Officers arrived at approximately 11:25 am, attempting to establish a perimeter around Taylor’s house to facilitate the safe removal of the resident. However, their efforts were met with hostility from the crowd, which cheered as the police were driven away from the scene. Subsequently, Taylor and any other residents living at the property were relocated to an undisclosed location for their safety.

Shoreline Housing, the organization responsible for managing the property, issued a statement through their head of HR and communications, Gill Watcham. She explained, “Our officers were called to Cabourne Road, where they have been working very closely with the police. The police have removed the resident from the property. We have recommended that temporary crisis accommodation may be available through North East Lincolnshire Council’s homeless section.”

She further emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of the property, stating, “We have made the property safe and secure and would urge people to not cause any further damage to it. Shoreline is a registered charity, and costs for such vandalism are met by the rent paid by our other tenants, preventing us from carrying out much-needed regeneration and improvements to homes and neighborhoods.”

While no further details about Taylor’s current whereabouts were provided, Shoreline assured that they would continue to work closely with law enforcement to monitor the situation. A local resident, who preferred to remain anonymous, expressed the community’s sentiments: “We all had an idea of what he has done. Then he was in court and got done for it. People down here want him out. We have stopped our kids playing on the green on Cabourne Road – and it is the only place they could play out here.”
