MEDIC WHO WAS SNARED BY 'PAEDOPHILE HUNTERS' OUTSIDE SCHOOL IS STRUCK OFF
A radiographer who was snared by "paedophile hunters" while trying to meet what he thought was a 12-year-old girl has been struck off from the medical profession.Vinrod Ramachandran was last year convicted of a string of sexual offences relating to a communication with a pre-teen.
After sharing messages with the "child," Ramachandran turned up outside Open Academy in Norwich expecting to meet her.
However, he was met and detained by a group of men who had been waiting for him to arrive and later arrested by the police.
Now, more than a year after the July 2024 conviction, it has emerged he had initially attempted to hide his offences from regulators the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Following a tribunal hearing, he has been struck off from his medical profession.
A report reveals that the regulators only became aware of Ramachandran's offences after receiving a media enquiry from a national newspaper - which came after the Eastern Daily Press had first reported on his court appearance.
A panel from the Health and Care Professionals Tribunal Service ruled that it was in "the wider public interest" to strike the former radiographer off.
Its report states: "The registrant (Ramachandran) has shown limited remorse and not expressed any form of apology, nor has there been any demonstration of regret for his actions.
Continued denials of underlying sexual intention, which was not supported by the evidence, raises the potential for repetition of the conduct in the future." Ramachandran, of Powling Road, Ipswich, claimed to the panel that he was unaware he had to inform the HCPC of his conviction.
The panel added: "By his own admission, the registrant had a woeful lack of understanding of the extent of his duties to his regulator.
There is nothing from the registrant to indicate any degree of willingness to address his previous behaviour."
