IPSWICH MAN JAILED FOR 16 MONTHS FOR ATTACK ON WOMAN
A jealous Ipswich man who repeatedly punched his former partner in the face after accusing her of sleeping with other men has been jailed for 16 months.
During their stay at a hotel, Walker accused her of infidelity, and after she became unconscious, he told her she had hit her head on a table and then punched her four or five times to the face and head.
As they were leaving the hotel, Walker told her not to call the police, scratched his neck, and said he would tell police she had done it.
The victim contacted her mother, and hotel staff intervened; during the call, Walker threatened further violence.
Police eventually forced their way into his house to arrest him.
Walker, 28, of Old Foundry Road, Ipswich, admitted assault causing actual bodily harm in October last year.
Judge David Wilson described the attack as 'sustained and vicious,' noting it occurred after the victim was unconscious.
The judge reviewed a video of her injuries, which included bruising and swelling.
Walker has previous convictions for threatening behaviour, threats to kill, and criminal damage.
