VINCENT LIVERMORE CAUGHT IN COLWYN BAY WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IMAGES AND ESCAPES JAIL

In April 2007, a young auxiliary nurse from Colwyn Bay, Vincent Livermore, was found guilty of possessing and creating indecent images of children, leading to a series of legal consequences that highlighted the severity of his actions. The case was heard at Mold Crown Court, where it was revealed that Livermore, aged 21 at the time, had downloaded a total of 155 pornographic images depicting minors from the internet during a particularly tumultuous period in his life.

Livermore, who was employed as an auxiliary nurse caring for elderly and brain-damaged individuals, admitted to multiple charges related to these images. Specifically, he pleaded guilty to 16 counts of making pornographic images of children in March 2006, along with an additional charge of creating 139 images, and possessing all 155 images in total. The court was informed that these offenses occurred over a span of a few days, from March 8 to March 11, 2006, and the images came to light when police executed a search warrant at his residence on March 13.

Despite the gravity of the charges, Judge John Rogers QC opted to impose a sentence of six months in prison, which was suspended for two years. This decision was accompanied by a series of strict conditions aimed at monitoring Livermore’s future conduct. The judge ordered that he must register as a sex offender for a period of seven years and prohibited him from working with children in any capacity. Additionally, Livermore, who was unemployed at the time, was mandated to complete 150 hours of unpaid community service and undergo supervision for two years.

Furthermore, the court required Livermore to participate in an internet sex offender treatment program, consisting of 35 group sessions, each lasting two hours. The prosecuting barrister, Simon Medland, emphasized that the indecent images were downloaded over a short period and only came to police attention after the warrant was executed at his home.

During the proceedings, Livermore’s defense attorney, Andrew Jebb, highlighted that there was no indication of any re-offending. He explained that Livermore was experiencing an abusive relationship at the time and that his actions were out of character. The defense also pointed out that Livermore had been in a new relationship for approximately 13 months, suggesting that he did not have an inherent predilection for such material. Despite the leniency in sentencing, the court’s orders reflected the serious nature of the offenses and the need for ongoing supervision and rehabilitation.
