Vincent Curran

Northampton Sexual Abuser

June 2022 Northampton pervert jailed for breaching sexual harm order with vulnerable woman A convicted sex offender has been jailed for a year and eight months after he ignored his sexual harm prevention Order (SHPO). Vincent Miguel Curran was discovered to have had a sexual relationship with a vulnerable woman who had been reported missing in March. The 28-year-old, from Northampton, was slapped with the SHPO in 2017 after he was convicted of sexually assaulting a young girl. The order excluded him from contacting or sleeping with any vulnerable woman. This latest breach is one of several Curran had committed since it was issued to him. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 20 months behind bars at Northampton Crown Court. Curran was issued with his first SHPO at the town’s magistrates’ court after he was convicted of the sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl in Northampton in June 2017. An SHPO is an order given by a court which limits what a convicted sex offender can do or where they can go. Curran’s order was issued with various conditions. It was amended in 2019 to also prohibit him from having any contact or communication with any female deemed vulnerable by a statutory agency. It included not to reside, even for one night, at an address where there is a vulnerable female without prior approval from either social services or the police. Curran could also not withhold information in respect to friendships or relationships when questioned. However, between March 12 and March 14 this year, Curran was found at an undisclosed Northampton address with a vulnerable woman. The woman had been reported missing and had been involved in a brief sexual relationship with him. Curran was arrested and pleaded guilty to two counts of breaching his SHPO. On June 1, he was sentenced at Northampton Crown Court to one year and eight months in prison. During the sentencing, Judge Adrienne Lucking told Curran that he had clearly formed, albeit a brief, sexual relationship with a young woman who he knew was very vulnerable, which he had then concealed. Judge Lucking said Curran was someone who has persistently breached orders and had a long history of breaching and disobedience to court orders, including three previous breaches of SHPOs. Indeed, Curran previously broke his SHPO and was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, by Northampton magistrates in July 2021
